DESSERT OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2009
Was held on Saturday 3rd October 2009 at Nadell Patisserie Islington
Sponsored by Champagne Duval-Leroy
1st prize was a trip to the Duval-Leroy cellars in Vertus, a village in the Côte de Blancs, Duval-Leroy is now one of the largest land-owners in all Champagne. Prizes were also awarded for 2nd and 3rd place and all finalists received a Villeroy & Boch commemorative plate.
The Drinking of Champagne is synonymous with celebrations and romance but thanks to Champagne Duval-Leroy and the Association of Pastry Chefs such occasions don't need to be the only time you drink Champagne.
Duval-Leroy are proud to sponsor the Dessert of the Year competition.
Our Champagne, Lady Rose is specifically designed to be enjoyed with desserts and the challenge is to create a dessert that will be a perfect companion to our Champagne. The competition is open to all pastry chefs age 21 or over on the closing date, and every outlet that takes part in the competition will receive one half-bottle of Lady Rose.
